A 30-year old woman is fighting for her life after a serious stabbing incident in Huddersfield. Police have now launched a major investigation to trace two suspects who fled the scene on e-bikes.
Emergency services were called to Topaz Close in Fartown shortly after 10:30PM on Monday night following reports of a violent assault. Officers from West Yorkshire Police arrived alongside paramedics and found the woman suffering from life-threatening injuries to her leg and head. She was taken to hospital where she remains in critical condition.
Detectives believe the attack was targeted and there remains no wider threat to the public. Forensic officers carried out their investigation around Saphire close and Aquamarine Drive. residents in the area reporter seeing a heavy police presence on Tuesday morning.
Detective inspector Sarah Bradley, of Kirklees CID, described the incident as “very serious” and confirmed extensive enquiries are underway. Officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries. reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to potential witnesses as part of the investigation. D.I. Bradley also stated, “we are working with our local neighbourhood policing team to provide reassurance.”
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the stabbing, or who may have seen two people travelling on an e-bike in the area before the attack, to come forward.
