John Stones started playing football when he was very young. According to the video, he came to Penistone Church Football Club as a six-year-old. His father brought him to the club because he used to play there too. John joined the under-sevens team and played a full season with them.
From the beginning, people could see that John was a talented player. One of the coaches said, “You could see he was going to be a good player.” He also explained that John was better than many of the other boys because of how he struck the ball, moved past players, and positioned himself.
