Huddersfield MP Harpreet Uppal has finally spoken out following the recent local elections.

Describing the elections as ‘disappointing’, The MP says Labour has lost all their council seats to Independent, Reform UK and Green Party candidates.

Posting to Facebook, MP Uppal makes a statement to share her thoughts on the loss, which she believes was a clear message to the labour party in Huddersfield and Kirklees.

The statement reads: “Voters have sent a clear message, and we must listen carefully and respond.”

“I am proud of the work Labour administrations have delivered for Huddersfield and in Kirklees.

“Serving our community is an absolute privilege and I hope they (Reform) continue to deliver for all of our residents across Kirklees”.

With this loss, the MP believes that we must “Collect ourselves and re-build from here”.

She also shines a light on the positive improvements/changes she plans to continue making for Huddersfield and Kirklees.

“Several projects including many town centre initiatives will begin to take shape in the coming months and years”

“These reflect the long-term vision, hard work and persistence of Labour Councillors locally”.

“Communities across Huddersfield and Kirklees will benefit from these”.
