Two men were rushed to hospital after a stabbing in Bradford on Sunday evening. Police say that two unidentified men were found on Seymour Street, one with life-threating injuries.
A damaged vehicle was also found at the scene and has since been seized. No further details have yet been released.
In April, teenager Ahmad Mamdouh Ibrahim was stabbed and killed in Huddersfield town centre. He had only been living in the UK for around two weeks after coming as a refugee from Syria.
Alfie Franco, 20, appeared in court charged with Ahmad’s murder and was remanded in custody until his court date on 2 October 2025.
After a number of stabbings in West Yorkshire, a spokesperson from the Huddersfield Town Foundation, which helps deter local young people from the use of weapons, said: “It is very upsetting to hear about the innocent lives lost to these crimes.
“Knife crime continues to devastate lives and communities in the region, and we must take urgent action.
“We must keep the youth educated and help them understand that carrying a knife doesn’t protect them but only harms themselves and others.”
A Freedom of Information request from the West Yorkshire Police found that knife crime in Kirklees increased by more than 50% between 2012 and 2022.
Nationally, the Government’s Youth Justice Board says that in the year to March 2024, there were more than 3,200 knife or offensive-weapon offences committed by children. This was six percent fewer than the previous year, but 20% more than 10 years ago.
