Trinity are in the 1895 Cup Final at Wembley in an all-Yorkshire affair against Sheffield Eagles, set to take place in the capital on Saturday 8th June.

The West Yorkshire outfit have had a dominate route to the final after beating Bradford Bulls 40-14 in the semi final. In the third round Trinity put in an exceptional performance away from home to beat Newcastle Thunder 110-0.

Wakefield head to Wembley Stadium for the first time since 1979 after the clubs recent history after years of mediocrity, the day will be a memorable one for the travelling Yorkshiremen. The last time Trinity played at Wembley was 45 years ago with a 12-3 loss to Widnes Vikings in the Challenge Cup Final. The last time the West Yorkshiremen won a trophy at Wembley, or any trophy for that matter you have to go back to 1963, 61 years ago, when they beat Wigan 25-10.

Backroom staff member Sufy Rafi on his thoughts regarding Trinity making it to the final and how big it could turn out to be for the City, “

It feels good to be going to Wembley after last season having a shocker, being relegated. We haven’t been to Wembley since the 60’s so it will be a good day for everyone”. 

“But I know I know the lads have a target on their back after being relegated, everyone wants to beat us” Wakefield are regarded as a top team in the Championship, Trinity currently occupy top spot after 7 games and 7 wins. Rafi finished off by saying “It is a good atmosphere around the club and the boys are buzzing for the challenge”. 

Trinity have been free flowing try scorers with 252 points. Rafi also added “Hopefully with the excitement regarding the final, the adrenaline will push us forward in the league to go straight back up and with the players and the facilities we have, I think we can do this”.

The AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final will take place on Saturday 8th June (KO: 5:45pm) as part of a triple header that will see the Men’s and Women’s Challenge Cup Finals played on the same day.
