It has been 41 Years since a devastating fire at Valley Parade that claimed the lives of 56 people and injuring 265 spectators. The Match between Bradford City and Lincoln City the final game of the Football League Third Division, had started in a celebratory atmosphere with Bradford City receiving the Third Division championship trophy.
A memorial will be held in Centenary Square. The service was conducted by Dean Jonathan Triffit and Oliver Evans, the club chaplain. Readings will be given by Max Power and Graham Alexander on behalf of the first-team squad and club.

Wreaths will also be laid by the High Sheriff, the Mayor of Lincoln, representatives of Bradford City AFC and Lincoln City FC, and Professor Ajay Mahajan on behalf of the Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit, bereaved families and representatives of the emergency services.
The events of 41 years ago, led to the start of modernising stadiums across the UK. The disaster led to rigid new safety standards in UK stadiums, including the banning of new wooden grandstands. It was also a catalyst for the substantial redevelopment and modernisation of many British football grounds within the following thirty years
