The 16-year-old driver, who can not be named due to his age, has been sentenced to four years in custody after appearing at Bradford Crown Court yesterday. He also has been handed a seven year driving ban.
13-year-old Harrison Reynolds was was killed after a stolen Vauxhaull Corsa crashed into a grass verge and lost control in February 2025.
The driver admitted to causing death by dangerous driving alongside aggravated vehicle taking.
The court was told the vehicle was taken from a passengers mother while she was sleeping. It was then driven at dangerous speeds and without headlights.
Prosecutors said that a police car had followed the vehicle but the driver refused the stop. The court was made aware that the pursuit had not impacted the crash.
The four other teenagers were also sentenced at Bradford Youth Court in April. A 16-year-old girl admitted to aggravated vehicle taking alongside the 18-year-old boy and 16-year-old girl.
In a statement given to the Crown Court, Harrison’s mother said: “I feel as if I am living a daily nightmare that will never end.”
Harrison had been diagnosed with additional needs, which his mother described as making him “vulnerable” and “more trusting of others”.
In a statement given to the court, Harrison’s sister said she has been unable to sit her GCSE’s or return to college due to her grief.
In a statement from West Yorkshire Police, they said:
“It is a painful example of the real dangers posed by driving a vehicle when unqualified and inexperienced to do so.”
