21-year-old, Isa Janjua, was convicted of conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation. He was sentenced to 45 months in prison at Leicester Crown Court.
The offence took place in November 2024 when a victim was cold called by someone pretending to be police investigating financial fraud. The victim gave her bank details and large payments were made. It is estimated around £80,000 was stolen. Janjua then took the victim to a watch shop and forced her to buy watches.
