
A business premises in Dewsbury has been ordered to close its door by police who are investigating suspected of drug related crimes in the Kirklees area. The Kirklees Partnership Team took action against ‘Top Shottaz’ premises after the police linked the venue with alleged dealings Class B drug dealings in the town.
Officers at the scene were able to activate a three-month PCO (Premises Closure Order) regarding the premises on Bradford Road at a hearing back in April at Kirklees Magistrates court.
The Dewsbury Town Centre Team Proactive Officers so far arrested five men relating to these crimes all who have been released on police bail.
Head of the team and Inspector Mark Pattinson of Kirklees Police has stated that: “The action to close this premises was taken following close work by town centre and licensing officers in the partnership team, in collaboration with our force solicitors.
Inspector Pattinson also shared that this type of action was deemed as a first of its kind situation. He adds: “This is the first time my team has applied for such an order and we believe it is the first time a police led order to close a premises has been used in Kirklees.
