The 34-year-old three-time Olympic medallist hopes to be selected as part of the British team for the Summer Games.
With a bronze medal at London in 2012 and a silver at Rio in 2016, Brownlee felt as if he ‘completed’ the Olympics when he assisted with Britain’s gold for the mixed relay in Tokyo.
Despite those accolades Tokyo would be his last games, but he is determined to compete in Paris.
“I found that I had the fastest split for the mixed relay, not just in the British Team but across everyone”
“I knew at that exact moment that I would want to compete again”
“It showed me that I wasn’t done at a distance as long as my body held up, I believed I could remain competitive at Paris”
Yokohama is this year’s first World Triathlon Championship Series event after the cancellation of the Abu Dhabi races due to severe flooding.
With Abu Dhabi out the qualification process will be condensed to Yokohama and Cagliari at the end of this month.
“I’m really looking forward to racing and the preparations has been good.”
Brownlee is set to make waves this Summer games.
