For the last 20 years, Huddersfield has been the host to one of the largest and toughest mountain bike challenges in the UK.
However, this Sunday will be the last time the event takes place with owner Jonny Brook deciding to put an end on its 20th anniversary.
Speaking on the matter Jonny Brook said this,
“Sadly, after much consideration, I’ve decided to call it a day. We started out in 2004, so 2024 adds a certain symmetry to the last hurrah.”
The challenge was originally set up so Brook could raise funds for Leymoor Cricket Club located in Golcar.
The journey spans over 30 miles starting at the cobbled streets of Dodlee Lane in longwood as you travel through Outlane Golf Course, Scapegoat Hill, Pole Moor, Nont Sarah’s at Scammonden, Cop Hill, West Slaithwaite, Marsden, Tunnel End, Pule Hill, Wessenden Head Valley, back through Wessenden Head Road and towards Meltham, Deerhill, Blackmoorfoot Reservoir, Linthwaite and down to Huddersfield Narrow Canal to Wellhouse, Bolster Moor and finishing back at Dodlee Lane.
Speaking to Huddersfield Hub, Jonny Brook spoke about what makes the event so special.
“The scenery is absolutely stunning. We often don’t appreciate what’s on our own doorstep. We live in a fantastic area and people who travel to take part love it.”
All riders need to be registered and ready to go by 8.30am on Sunday (May 12) with registration still open for new riders starting at £20. To book your place this Sunday click here – https://www.cvmbc.co.uk/product/cvmbc-entry-2024/
