It’s race week once again and the F1 circus rolls into Miami for the second sprint weekend of the season. Here are 5 things you need to know before this weekend’s Miami Grand Prix.
- Teams Bringing Crucial Upgrades
One of the key talking points going into this sprint weekend is Mercedes are bringing an important upgrade in efforts to kickstart their season. However, the impact of the upgrade is difficult to predict. Mercedes have been facing a variety of issues since the regulations were introduced in 2022 which has highlighted the technical weaknesses in Brackley. Another team that’s bringing in upgrades is McLaren. After enjoying a successful weekend in China, McLaren will be introducing their first upgrade of the season. If the upgrade is like the upgrade in Austria last year, then expect the Papaya team to be extremely competitive.
2. Ferrari Introduce Special Livery
Another factor that has been discussed on social media is the reveal of Ferrari’s new livery. The one-off design change marks the 70th anniversary of Ferrari’s presence in North America and features two historic shades of blue: Azzurro La Plata and Azzurro Dino.
3. Miami’s First Sprint Weekend
F1 will host the second sprint weekend in a row following the return of the Chinese Grand Prix. As we saw last season, the Miami International Autodrome is a tricky circuit to get right and can mix up the qualifying order. With the format giving only one practice session before Sprint Qualifying, the teams will have to hook everything up straight away.
