You might be wondering why this article is writing about another gloomy day in January…
Well, January 10th isn’t just the same old date, it’s ‘National Cut Your Energy Costs Day’.
With the Cost-of-Living Crisis sticking with us like a never-ending bad taste on our tongues, here’s some ways we can cut down on our own energy bills today and every other day of this moody month.
Layering is very important, indoor or outdoor. So grab the cosiest jumpers, the best blankets and make sure to wrap up warm (bonus points if you’re having a film night). Not only is this a free method to keeping warm, the heat generated from wrapping up saves sticking on that dreaded heating.
Take shorter showers. This is a touchy subject. As a Nation we are passionate about our showering habits. We’re not being told to take cold showers, in this environment we need to keep warm, the only thing we’re urged to change is the amount of time we spend showering! We all need to turn our shower performances from a world tour to two or three songs… around 5-6 minutes.
Local organisation Green Doctor based in Morley, Leeds provides more information on this and are a helpful resource for staying warm. Unfortunately, they list the kettle as one of the ‘most energy hungry appliances in your home’. Try using the hob instead to make our beloved brews.
Get ready for November 29th, the best day of the year… National Buy Nothing Day!
