Two men have been jailed after creating 3D printed guns with the intent to manufacture and supply. The men have been named as Christopher Gill and Sibusiso Moyo, their associate Majeed Rehman is to be sentenced later. Rehman was found with a homemade automatic submachine gun alongside bullets in a BMW.

Gill was seen getting into the BMW with a backpack, he was later found with two more homemade automatic sub-machine guns at his home in Bradford. Moyo’s DNA was also later found in the BMW in question, raising the police’s awareness of his involvement in the case.
After searching his property two 3D printers and weapons components were found at the residence of Sibusiso Moyo. After being inspected by an expert in the field at Leeds Royal Armouries the firearms created by Gill, Moyo and Rehman were confirmed to have made successfully working weapons. Detective Chief Inspector Andrew Howard who was the senior investigating officer on the case said ‘Over recent times we have seen the tragic and devastating consequences that criminally-held firearms being used by offenders have caused. These include the fatal shootings of innocent people […] not to mention the impact such incidents have on our communities.’.

Today Moyo has been sentenced to 18 years for illegally manufacturing a firearm as well as a separate identity fraud offence prior to his crimes with the guns. As said previously Rehman is yet to be sentenced despite being found guilty of possession of ammunition and conspiracy to transfer a prohibited firearm. Gill has also been sentenced today to 13 years, 8 months as a result of illegally manufacturing a firearm.
