Last night we saw the global talent gather in London for the prestigious BAFTA awards. With shows Happy Valley and Top Boy both taking home multiple awards.
Sarah Lancshire, the lead in the hit Yorkshire based drama series Happy Valley won two awards for her role as the veteran officer Cathrine Cawood, Lead Actress and the Memorable Moment Award voted for by the public.
During her acceptance speech Sarah Lancshire said “It’s an honour thank you, I feel very very privileged, a very British drama, a very British home.”
Some of the success of Happy Valley can be attributed to the community feel of the show, something that is close to everyone’s hearts which is only further exemplified by Sarah’s performance.

Maxine Perry, a Halifax Resident said “She deserves the highest accolade for her excellence and realism well done Sarah.”
Alice Copsey, a fan of the show, said Sarah’s win “meant a lot to me as she had worked hard delivering a strong, powerful character. She is a great role model for women, as her performance in Happy Valley exceeded all expectations and showed everyone this is how to act.”
The hardened British drama Happy Valley has received large critical acclaim concluded last year with an season finale with 7.5 million tuning in to the explosive season finale as according to overnight ratings.
