For generations, sports-based activities have always had a motive behind them, targeting a larger Male demographic. Programmes like ‘This Girl Can’ and other initiatives have been set up to tackle these issues and make P.E more inclusive.

The research was conducted by Studio, an educational platform. With the results finding that double the percentage of girls surveyed would drop the subject in comparison to the figures provided by boys.

A receptionist at TruGym answered why she feels sports aren’t targeted towards girls, ‘’P.E in Schools gives girls the impression that sports isn’t important for them’’. Continuing this, the worker detailed ‘’This can be detrimental to their health’’.

There are many local gyms in the West Yorkshire area for people of all ages to try out new activities.

She also stated, ‘’I think it’s good for girls to be represented in sports and show other girls it’s possible even if it’s not something they don’t want to pursue after School.’’ Although it may not be everyone’s first choice as a subject, trying new things is always crucial especially at a young age.
