The UK Government is set to unveil a £45 billion Northern Powerhouse Rail investment aimed at transforming transport across Northern England.
The plan includes faster rail links connecting Leeds and Bradford with Sheffield, York and areas further north.
Ministers say the upgrade will strengthen regional connectivity, boost economic growth and improve reliability, with initial funding for design and planning expected to be confirmed tomorrow.
