Huddersfield Town’s Women’s Team lost 5-0 at the New York Stadium against Sheffield United’s Under 21s, missing the chance to make it three consecutive County Cup titles.
Grace Foy scored twice, with Amber Sewell, Isla Phillips and Brogan Hughes rounded off a great night in Rotherham for the blades.
Glen Preston said after the game he thought ‘it was a harsh scoreline to be honest. It was quite fine margins, but I thought we lost to a better side. I thought we lost to a side that was very good in transition, very fast and direct on the counter and we really struggled to deal with that.’
He added ‘we did a lot of analysis pre-game, in terms of identifying the likes of Foy and Phillips with their pace and directness. But you can know everything you need to know about an opposition and not necessarily be able to deal with it on the day and I think we struggled to deal with them today.’
Town where without Charlotte Stuart for the game due to injury, who has been out since picking up an injury away at York City in March.
Huddersfield finished 5th in the league as there season fizzled out, losing their last two games with an aggregate score of 9-0.
