All eyes on the Chapel chimney today as crowds continue to wait for another day to find out who has been elected for pope after Pope Francis who sadly passed away last month aged 88 years.

This is after the first day of the Pope election ended with an inconclusive decision with black smoke appearing on Wednesday evening, 7th May 2025. This was from the Sistine Chapel chimney signalling that the electors had not reached a decision. A second vote is to take place today and smoke will only appear once a decision has been made, thousands of people especially Catholics are seen outside St Peter Square nervously waiting to find out the results of the new Pope. This would be the 267th pope leader of the Catholic Church.
