The New York Knicks have yet again defeated the Boston Celtics in the NBA playoffs second round as they go up 2-0 in the series.
This result comes as an upset as Celtics star duo Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum combined for 33 points, a figure well below their usual prolific standards. Josh Hart was the standout performer for New York, scoring 23 points and grabbing 6 rebounds with a game high 43 minutes played. It took a pair of free throws from Knicks talisman Jalen Brunsen to put the side up by one point, with Tatum failing to convert a mid range jumper on the last possession, sealing this crucial game two victory for the away side.
Boston enjoyed a fantastic season as they finished second place in the Eastern Conference, with the third best record in the NBA after 61 wins and 21 losses only behind the Cleveland Cavaliers and Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Celtics have championship aspirations for this season, with anything other than coming home with the Larry O’ Brein trophy deemed as a failure by not only the fans, but the organization as a whole. Their Eastern Conference counterpart, The Cavaliers, are also 2-0 down to a lesser opponent in the Indiana Pacers, with the balance of power in the division seemingly being tipped on its head.
Boston will be hoping to complete a comeback as they travel to New York on Saturday for game 3.
