Centenary Square is set to host Bradford City’s promotion parade on the evening of the 5th of May, with the open top bus set to spark a fantastic atmosphere.
Their promotion to League 1 marks their first promotion since their iconic 2012/2013 season under manager Phil Parkinson that also saw them reach the League Cup final in which they were beaten by Swansea City. Fans rejoiced after their 1-0 victory against Fleetwood that saw them secure third place and gain automatic promotion.
The Bradford fanbase have endured years of pain since their relegation to the fourth tier in 2019, continually failing to cement themselves amongst the best in the division. A 9th place finish last season saw them well below expectations of making the playoff and gaining entry back into League 1.
Thousands are set to join the celebrations, with the city centre expecting a massive financial boost during the evening. The dwindling pub scene in the city will receive a welcome increase in footfall for the evening, which will be massively valuable for the business owners of Bradford.
Beverley Mullaney, the Lord Mayor of Bradford, stated via the club website, ‘As a Bradford City fan I’m absolutely delighted that they have been promoted. The squad and supporters so deserve this after the season that they have had. This is such a big deal for the club, the city and the district. I’d encourage as many people as possible to come down to City Park to help celebrate’.
The occasion will mark a special end to the season for not only the fans, but the city as a whole.
