The Denver Nuggets toppled the high flying Oklahoma City Thunder 119-121 in a second round playoff thriller that went down to the final possession of the game.

The first game of the series proved not to disappoint with a Nikola Jokic masterclass that saw the Serbian centre score 42 points and grab 22 rebounds. Aaron Gordon followed an impressive series against the Clippers with another game winner, this time a rare jump-shot from the power forward. The usually passionate Oklahoma faithful were stunned into mere silence, as they saw their lead eradicated with only 2.8 seconds remaining.

Game 2 will remain in Oklahoma as the Thunder hold home court advantage, with a difficult challenge awaiting the in– form Nuggets. With the future of this Denver roster in question after their second round exit against the Timberwolves last season, it will be crucial for these players to push their advantage to two before going back to their home court for game three.

Point guard Jamal Murray faced the majority of these questions on whether he is still good enough to be a second option on a championship level team. He yet again silences his doubters, raising his standards for the playoffs and playing the most total minutes for the nuggets.

The Thunder will hope to reclaim their position as one of the NBA’s most feared teams in game two, with a dominant victory during the early hours of Thursday morning as they look to continue their run towards their first championship in franchise history.
