An opening goal from red hot Ousmane Dembele in the 4th minute proved all the Parisians needed to take a lead back home, with a flurry of opportunities late on in the match setting up the second leg to be an exciting affair. A disappointing result for the Arsenal fans that packed out the Emirates after manager Mikel Arteta’s call to rally the fans behind the team.

Arsenal had ambitions of taking home the Champions League title this season after their Premier League campaign came to an end following Liverpool’s defeat of Tottenham that saw them claim the championship. A second place finish was not enough to subdue Arsenal’s craving for silverware, with the cup the last chance to save their season.

The London side, who have never captured a European title, will need to overturn the deficit in front of a parisian fanbase with a reputation for creating hostile environments on these types of nights. The French outfit are also on aiming to win their first Champions League after a history of historic failures, with this season looking like their best opportunity to go all the way

The second leg will be played on the 7th of May and, with a place in the final at stake, it is shaping up to be another glorious night that will go down in the memory of fans across the world.
