Following 409 appearances, 6 goals and 9 assists, Huddersfield Town football club captain Jonathan Hogg will walk away from the club after not being offered a new contract by the club.

The 36 year old, who joined from Watford in 2013, cost the club 1.2 million Euros and more than paid back his value being a stalwart in the defensive midfield position. He played a key role in their iconic 2016/17 promotion side that guided them to the premier league for the first time in club history, cementing his status as a club legend.

He will make his final appearance for the club against Leyton Orient on Saturday, bringing his total to 410 appearances across his spell. It is a day that is sure to be emotional for all Terriers fans in attendance, with it also being their final match of the season.

Club chairman Kevin Nagle stated on the club website, “An example to his teammates, our younger players and those who come to represent Huddersfield Town in the future, Jonathan Hogg will forever be a Terrier.”

Huddersfield currently sit in 10th position in League 1 after five losses on the bounce, with the news of their hero leaving not helping the negative feeling surrounding the club. The fans will hope to focus on celebrating their club legend, rather than their current turbulent form.
