Collections were originally cancelled on Friday 3rd January, with a small number of trucks able to complete their daily collections.

Severe snow and ice being the main cause on why the bins haven’t been collected as of yet.

Many residential areas were not gritted by the local council due to budgeting costs.

Kirklees Council Direct Support Team Member, Zunaid said: “the crew were unable to collect the bins this week due to the inclement weather”.

Zunaid later added that the trucks: “will be back out collecting them as soon as it is safe to do so. Please make sure to leave your bins presented outside your homes”.

Kirklees Council are saying that household bins are expected to be emptied by the end of this week, with some also being picked up going into next week.
