The incident occurred on Monday evening at around 5:15 on Malvern Road in the Primrose Area of Huddersfield.
At first, a white hatchback collided with a parked car, white attempting to travel up the steep hill. Then soon after, a red car coming down Malvern Road, next to the junction with Orchard Terrace, parked up.
However, as the passengers of the red car were unloading, their Red Honda slid down the hill, hitting the two cars that had already collided, just moments before.
West Yorkshire Police arrived at the scene just after 5:30, with those that had been caught out by the incident. By working alongside residents on the street, officers managed to securely shut off the road.
Cars that hadn’t crashed but were travelling down the road, had to wait for at least an hour and a half, as they were left unable to reverse back up the hill. Even an ambulance, responding to an emergency, got caught in the trouble for five minutes, putting the life of the patient at risk.
Resident to Malvern Road, Gerald Baker showed his frustration: “”It’s shocking that the council have not gritted our road. This is absolute madness and a danger to life”.
After the crash, Kirklees Council announced that they will be sending out some gritting trucks later that night, but none were seen or heard of from homeowners nearby.
