What does the future hold for Bingley Festival?

Music fans have been left disappointed after the once popular Bingley Festival was called off.

The festival which opened in 2009 and attracted over 17,000 fans last year, was only due to start in ten days’ time.

It has now been officially postponed to 2025 with ‘financial challenges’ being cited as the main reason by the organisation team.

Bingley realised a statement yesterday saying ‘’it’ll come as no surprise, but with a heavy heart, we must announce the difficult decision to postpone Bingley Festival until 2025’’ ‘’We have exhausted all options to welcome you back in 2024. Unfortunately, many events face similar financial challenges in these unprecedented times’’.

Bingley have seen so many great acts over the years such as Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Pixies and also the Libertines.

This statement has left Bingley’s fans shocked and disappointed that they would not have the opportunity to return to Bingley this year.

On social media there have been many responses to Bingley’s recent statement. On Facebook, Lesley Jane Gott says ‘’I might be back for this in 2025 we will have to see’’.

While local artists Wilko Wikes responded with ‘’The right decision it’s got to be sustainable or what’s the point. I would love to be on the lineup next year if you have any slots for Bingley based acts’’.

Some fans have used this statement as a chance to react and attempt to contact the Bingley team with a goal of telling them what they could improve on for the upcoming years and what they didn’t like about the festival.

Some of the feedback was highly positive, Billy Strahan Jr said ‘’Give some more up and coming bands a chance next time maybe they won’t cost you a fortune and the future of music is gonna be knackered if there’s not more supporting them’’.

However, some fans took a more negative approach ‘’Let’s be honest, tribute bands were never the way forward!’’

Bingley have asked their ‘’loyal fans’’ to continue to support them over this tough period and remember that they only want to give you the best Bingley Festival that can possibly give and nothing less.

Let’s hope Bingley take this time off to reflect on their financial decisions and start to create a weekend Bingley fan will never forget for the rest of their lives.
