Sheffield Eagles fought their way into the Wembley spotlight for the 1895 Cup, securing their spot against Wakefield Trinity, after going four years without experiencing the sweet victory of a trophy. The eagle’s trip to the struggling York Knights saw them triumphant with a 18-28 victory at the LNER Community Stadium.

The Eagles’ experienced head coach, Mark Aston, said after the victory, “We weren’t vintage today, but all that mattered was winning.” This insight perfectly captured the team’s will to end their trophy drought and take advantage of the 1895 Cup.

As his team prepare for the championship match against Wakefield Trinity, Aston acknowledged the difficult task before of them. Wakefield’s faultless record in the championship and their most recent victory over the robust Bradford Bulls highlighted the difficult assignment that confronts the Eagles.

We’ve still got one step to go – winning at Wembley ” he confirmed. Aston made a statement highlighting the team’s resolve, saying, “We are not going there to take part.”
