Red Bull have confirmed that legendary Formula 1 designer Adrian Newey will leave in early 2025.

Sources understand that the 65-year-old will not have to serve a gardening leave when he leaves the team next year. This allows him to join another Formula 1 team and help design their car for the 2026 season when the new regulations are introduced.

Since the news broke out, Newey has already been linked to several teams acquiring for his services. One of these teams are Ferrari, who have already confirmed the signing of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

Newey has been part of the Red Bull outfit since 2006, leading the design of the cars that have propelled the team to all 13 of their world titles. Team principal Christian Horner said that Newey leaves the team as a “true legend.”

Newey says that now is “an opportune moment to hand that baton over to others and to seek new challenges.”
