A 36yr old man has been arrested, after a van was driven into a building which resulted in multiple people being injured. 2 of those injured, were Police Officers, who remain in hospital after being attacked by a sword.

None of the injuries are considered life threatening, however the two police officers are slightly more significant injuries, where they require surgery. The 36yr old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and has not yet been questioned due to injuries he suffered whilst carrying out the attack.

The 14yr old boy unfortunately was rushed to hospital after being stabbed, however he died shortly after arriving in hospital.

The police have confirmed, that the suspect has had no previous incidents with the police before despite reports questioning the background of the suspect. Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell said: “Despite urgent and extensive checks today we found no trace of a prior incident involving the suspect,”

The Police were called to the Thurlow Gardens around 7am, after reports that a van had crashed into a house. An eyewitness described the moment the attacker got out of the van and attacked the 14yr old boy.
