This is the John Smith’s Stadium, Hudderfield’s current ground
Today marks 30 years since Huddersfield Town played their last game at the old Leeds Road ground. The last fixture that was played at the old stadium was Huddersfield Town vs Blackpool. The teams were faced with a crowd of 16,195 ahead of their move to their current stadium which is now called the John Smith’s Stadium. The final game at the ground was a fitting farewell with a 2-1 win with goals from Simon Baldry and Phil Starbuck.
The Leeds Road ground has witnessed two world wars, a record attendance of 67,037 and three Division One titles in a row including footballing heroes such as Denis Law and Frank Worthington.
To mark the special occasion, a special Q&A will be held at the John Smith’s Stadium at noon today. Fans planning on attending must contact the club first through supporterservices@htafc.com or phone 01484 960 650
